# How do I hire a casting director in the UK?

> Choose by credits, then send the script. Look for a casting director whose past work matches your tone and scale, using their credit list, the Casting Directors' Guild and IMDb. Approach them directly or through their agent, with the script or idea and your dates. Catherine Willis of CW Casting can be reached through the contact page or her agent, Independent Talent Group.

## What are the steps?

1. **Shortlist by credits.** Find productions close to yours in tone, budget and audience, and see who cast them. Every one of the 110 [credit pages on this site](https://www.cwcasting.co.uk/work) names the director, the company and the broadcaster.
2. **Make contact.** Email the casting director, or their agent if they have one, with the script or the idea and the dates.
3. **Talk it through.** The first conversation covers the script, the tone and what the broadcaster or studio needs.
4. **Agree the scope.** Full casting, a pilot, a search for one role, or UK casting alongside a casting director in another country.
5. **Agree terms.** Fees are agreed for each production and depend on its scale and how long the search runs.

## What should I look for?

- **Returning series.** 27 productions cast by CW Casting ran to two or more series.
- **Recognition from peers.** An RTS Craft and Design Award for Casting in 2023, and four Casting Directors' Guild nominations.
- **Fit with your genre.** 55 of the 110 credits are comedy or comedy drama.
