For actors

How do I get seen by a casting director?

Short answer

Be in something, and say where and when. Catherine Willis finds new actors in small theatres, at fringe festivals and in short films, so an invitation to see your work is more useful than a general email. Keep your Spotlight profile current, apply to open calls, and send links, not attachments.

What should I send?

  • Your name, playing age and where you are based.
  • A link to your Spotlight profile or a showreel.
  • One or two lines about what you are in, and when.

CW Casting reads what it is sent but cannot reply to every message. Details are on the getting in touch page.

What is the quickest route to a specific part?

The brief for that production. If you have an agent, they suggest you. If the casting is open, it is on the open calls page.

What happens if I am not right for the part?

You may be right for another. Catherine Willis keeps people in mind, and actors first seen for one role have been cast years later in a different one.
