Rome is traditionally imagined as the home of emperors and senators, generals and gladiators, a dignified theatre of pomp and ceremony. But what about the little guys, the wasters - new to the big city, stuck in office jobs, unable to get the girls? Unlikely to be immortalised in the annals or memorialised in a frieze, Marcus, Stylax and their lazy slave with an attitude problem, Grumio, are essentially just a bunch of plebs.

“How can I remember things I never knew?”
A fascinating and beautifully-detailed account of the unlikely relationship that develops one summer between Misty, a 15 year-old girl, and The Honey Man, an ‘ancient’ afro-caribbean man who has taken up residence in a derelict cottage at the edge of the picture-postcard English village where she lives.
It’s a tale of growing up and growing old, of individual responsibility and shared history, of dying bees, healing herbs and (possibly) just a little magic.
The Honey Man was developed in partnership with Eastern Angles Theatre Company and Theatre Writing Partnership and showcased as a work-in-progress at the ACE Decibel Festival 2009.
